What Does WHQL Stand For?

WHQL stands for Windows Hardware Quality Labs. It's a testing program run by Microsoft that validates device drivers for compatibility and reliability with Windows operating systems.

When a driver passes WHQL testing, it receives a digital signature from Microsoft, confirming that:

The driver has been tested for stability
It doesn't crash or cause blue screens
It's compatible with the specified Windows version
It hasn't been tampered with or modified

How to Check If a Driver is WHQL Certified

Open Device Manager
Right-click a device → Properties
Go to the Driver tab
Look for "Digital Signer: Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility Publisher"

If you see this, the driver is WHQL certified.
